Six things to check in the written employment conditions
A high headline salary does not always mean higher take-home pay. Compare the written terms, deductions, housing costs and hours together. Bonuses and subsidies depend on the employer’s terms, not an automatic entitlement.
Health insurance coverage depends on your employment conditions. Confirm whether the employer enrolls you in employees’ health insurance and when coverage starts.
Paid leave depends on length of service, attendance and scheduled working days. Confirm the date you qualify and the number of days.
Check whether housing support is offered and who pays rent, deposits, utilities and moving costs. Do not assume these costs are covered.
Ask about available language-learning opportunities, schedules and costs. Free classes are not included with every job.
Confirm overtime, night and holiday premiums, and any fixed-overtime allowance, in the written terms.
Confirm pension enrollment and contributions. When changing jobs, also check procedures for any gap between employers.
